Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly feature created by Danielle’s Book Blog and The Girl Who Read Too Much that highlights book covers from around the world.
This week’s theme is a book in which a character gives an amazing gift to a loved one, and the Throne of Glass sequel Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas immediately came to mind — probably because I read it super recently.
Without spoiling anything, I will say that in the novel, bad ass assassin turned King’s Champion Celaena Sardothien throws a fancy birthday dinner for Captain of the Guard Chaol Westfall and things go swimmingly.
In addition to the dinner, there’s also a jewelry exchange that comes into play throughout the series — including in the latest book Queen of Shadows — and oh god, my heart.

She is the greatest assassin her world has ever known.
But where will her conscience, and her heart, lead her?
After a year of hard labor in the Salt Mines of Endovier, eighteen-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien has won the king’s contest to become the new royal assassin. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown – a secret she hides from even her most intimate confidantes. Keeping up the deadly charade―while pretending to do the king’s bidding―will test her in frightening new ways, especially when she’s given a task that could jeopardize everything she’s come to care for. And there are far more dangerous forces gathering on the horizon — forces that threaten to destroy her entire world, and will surely force Celaena to make a choice. Where do the assassin’s loyalties lie, and who is she willing to fight for?
The Turkish cover reminds me of Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel covers. I absolutely love the UK editions of the whole series but I’m sticking to my US hardcovers<3
I’m not a huge fan of the UK editions but I have no idea why.
